Constrain To Component Move

Overview

Constrain To Component Move moves selected components to a base component origin while maintaining their current orientation (rotation about their origin). Each component's origin planes are constrained to the base component's origin planes. If all three planes are not parallel, no action is taken. This is useful for assemblies where components need to be repositioned but retain their orientation.

How It Works

  1. Select the base component and one or more components to move.
  2. The command moves each selected component to the base component's origin, maintaining its orientation.
  3. Origin planes are constrained to match the base component.
  4. If the planes are not parallel, the command does nothing.

Usage Instructions

  1. Open the assembly containing the components.
  2. Select the base component and the components to move.
  3. Click the Constrain To Component Move button in the Configure panel.
  4. Review the position and constraints in the assembly.

Troubleshooting

  1. If components do not move as expected, verify that their origin planes are parallel to the base component.
  2. Check for existing constraints that may interfere with movement.
  3. Ensure the correct base component is selected.

Examples

  1. Move a bracket to a base plate: Select both components and use the command to reposition the bracket while keeping its orientation.
  2. Move multiple supports to a common origin: Select the base and all supports, then run the command to move them.
